Getting excited for your big day?! We have suggested some helpful tips and pre-planning checklists to share with you for choosing florals as your big day fast approaches!
Blooming Blossoms has been in business in Providence for 28 years. Below are some of our expert wedding tips on things to consider. If you have other questions or are curious to know more about florals for your weddings, feel free to fill out a wedding inquiry form and we’d love to chat!
WE WORK WITH MOTHER NATURE ON THIS ONE.
We suggest focusing on colors, themes, and design rather than a specific kind of flower. After all, mother nature really dictates what flowers are available. Of course, it’s possible to get almost any flower at anytime (with some exceptions), however, this requires getting flowers from Holland. With our experience creating floral arrangements, we know that your design and vision can be achieved by our talented floral designers using the flowers available to us. Our brides trust our vision and craftsmanship. We spend time getting to know you and with your input regarding design and using the colors you’ve selected for your wedding, we use locally sourced in-season flowers to create beautiful florals that achieve your wedding vision.
WE KEEP UP WITH THE TRENDS
New trends pop up and we stay current and relevant. We work with you to make sure your wedding flowers are uniquely created to meet your vision. We are happy to play around and try something new! All you gotta do is ask!
TRADITIONAL? YES, NO, MAYBE SO?
If you think you need to do something because it’s “tradition” like throw a toss bouquet, we want to provide the friendly reminder that you don’t have to. Your wedding is yours. There’s no reason to do something you don’t want. You’re unique and your wedding should be too. Go with what’s in your heart.
REPURPOSING BRIDAL PARTY FLOWERS
We see this all the time. After the ceremony, bridesmaids will wonder what to do with their bouquet. May we suggest ideas where these bouquets can be repurposed for your reception. Bouquets could be placed on a mantle in the reception hall, cake table, or registration table. If you’re on a tight budget, we would also recommended you could use the bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces on the tables!
YOU’RE NOT SURE WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR FLOWERS AFTER THE RECEPTION?
Your guests may be from out-of-town and won’t be able to take the flowers with them after the reception. You’re about to head off on your honeymoon so you can’t take them home either. So what do you do with your flowers after? Often flowers get abandoned and left at the venue, only to be disposed of. We think there’s a better solution. And that’s donating your arrangements to a local nursing home, hospital, or children’s hospital.
Sometimes a bride will ask us about packages offered or a contract to review. The truth is, we cannot offer that because there is no “standard” wedding to us. Every bride, every wedding, and every one we work with are unique and different. We take great care to understand who we’re talking to and what your specific needs are. After having a floral consultation our designers can envision the specific colors, themes, and details of your wedding. We then make a custom proposal specifically for you. No two weddings are the exact same. No two floral arrangements are the exact same. So why should you have a contract that is the same for everyone else? We treat each wedding differently but with the same set of professional standards below:
We will work with you to make sure your flower arrangements come out with the same beauty and vision that you imagined when we first spoke.
We will work within your budget and will never put pressure on you to spend more.
We will arrange, deliver, and set up your flowers with extreme care and love. The only thing you will have to worry about is how to find enough time to soak in their gorgeousness.
We will wish you the happiest of times as you begin your new journey in life.
Several years ago we had a dapper gentleman come into the shop to order a single red rose for his fiance. His charm captivated us and we had the pleasure to design the florals for his and his then fiance, soon to be wife’s wedding. His simple, yet elegant and beautiful gesture of one single red rose was very romantic.
Flash forward a few months to the spring, Brian and Tania had a gorgeous wedding at Belle Mer – a beautiful and captivating venue.
Such a lovely and beautiful couple that we have the pleasure to work with! We got back in touch with them this past Fall at the Hope Street Festival, where they brought their food truck, O’Crepe (https://www.facebook.com/ocreperi/) and served their delicious goodies on the street.

Usually Florists do not work with hard, geometric shapes. We are used to the soft petals of flowers that are incredible delicate and fragile to work with. When we worked with this talented couple to achieve their wedding vision, it was quite the rewarding challenge.
Lindsey and Bob had a very particular vision which we wanted to create perfectly for them. The shapes, made by the groom, were used as centerpieces for their Downtown PVD fete. The juxtaposition of the classicism of the Dorrance and the modernity of the groom’s shapes provided a new, fun and fresh feeling.
The Bride’s bouquet was perfectly vibrant. We loved the look of the bright crimson and wine tones in contrast with the soft, white shades of the couple’s centerpieces.
Thank you Lindsey & Bob for letting us create your unique wedding centerpieces. We really enjoyed thinking “outside of the shape”. (All photos courtesy of M Studios)
What a year 2015 was. With the most of our weddings occurring in wedding season – the summer, we had the pleasure of working with so many great couples to create their wedding florals and ambiance.
Courtney & Chris, 2015
There were tons of vibrant and soft tones that complimented the light and heat of the Summer.
Shade of blue, white and green are a great tone for indoor summer weddings.
We had some gorgeous weddings set at the beach.
And amazing, classic shades of white.
We had the pleasure of doing the flowers for Bride Claudette and Groom Jerry this past summer. Their gorgeous outdoor wedding was hosted at Five Bridge Inn in quaint Rehoboth, MA. The palette was bright yellow that we incorporated throughout the whole ceremony and reception.
Claudette’s gorgeous bouquet made with yellow Calla Lilly’s. How spectacular is Claudette’s dress?!
The regal white and romantically lit reception under the tent was spectacular. The pops of yellow and height added to the romance.
A big thank you to the bride and the groom for letting us work on their wedding and best wishes to the newlyweds!
As the 2014 wedding season comes to an end, we are looking back at our year and reminiscing on all the weddings, people and vendors we had the honor of working with. Of course there is upset, laughter, tears, excitement and down and out hard work, but we love it all and we look forward to it season after season. Our 2014 season wasn’t just May – October, we were really excited to have had some Winter weddings, through March which brought us into spring. This kept us happily busy!
We had the pleasure of working with so many great people over the past year, and a great team makes the wedding process seamless and easier to carry out. We’re looking forward to the next season and to hopefully get the chance to work with talented individuals once again.
Working with Mount Hope Farm is always lovely, as we did so for Corkie’s Wedding.
We had the pleasure of working with Eliza and Elliot for their gorgeous wedding at Glen Manor House. We were happily pleased to work with the wonderful Christine Ellingwood once again.
Jenda and I only worked together via phone, one may think that this may pose to be challenging but our visions meshed perfectly together.
Overall, we would say Wedding Season 2014 was a success! Hats off to everyone who made it possible and Congrats to all the happy couples!
Today, we want to celebrate all loving couples. On May 2, 2013, Marriage Equality was signed into law in Rhode Island. As the one-year anniversary of this event, we would like to share with you some images from one of our weddings. These two lovely brides were planning on having a civil ceremony, but the moment marriage equality became law, they decided to legally get married. It was an absolute joy to work with them and share in their love for each other.

We had a great time designing the flowers for Meghan and Matt. They were a lovely couple and it was a beautiful day for a wedding. Thank you to Stack 9 Photography for these amazing photos and to Whispering Pines for hosting this wedding.
It was a pleasure to design Jennifer and Traves’ wedding flowers. We are very happy for the newlyweds.
The color palette they chose were pretty soft pinks and romantic pastels. We used full peonies, assorted pink roses, lilies, and white and green hydrangeas.
It was a real joy to share in their special day.
Also, thank you to Della Bella Photography for supplying us with these beautiful photos.
I feel so blessed to get to work with so many incredible brides (and their families)! Thank you all for your kind words – this award is really for you! Thank you for including me in your beautiful weddings!
